This week we will not be having a new PoW and will instead be handing in our third example for marking. Make sure to review the requirements on the outline I've given or download the one posted on this page.

Sudoku is one of my personal favourites for Math puzzles. It requires a lot of reasoning to work out where the numbers go and the strategies I use tend to change as the difficulty gets harder. The basic idea is you must fill each row, column and 3x3 sub-grid with the digits 1 to 9 with each digit being used exactly once in each. I've included an easier one to get going and a little bit harder one too. Good luck!
This week's problem will test your ability to identify and understand number patterns. Also try the extra challenge at the bottom!
Since the invention of matches in the 1800s, matchstick puzzles have been popular brain teasers. They often require patience and persistence in order to figure out how to properly rearrange the sticks. This week's puzzle limits you to moving only 3 of the sticks in order to transform three triangles into five. Good luck!

What are PoWs?Problems of the Week are puzzles, problems and questions I give out in a 4 week cycle. The first three weeks are new problems for students to try. The fourth week is a chance for reflection and an opportunity for students to choose one of the three PoWs to hand in as a showcase of their problem solving abilities. Hand-in OutlineArchives
