We are once again into our 4th week of our PoW cycle. Instead of giving a new one this week, I will ask that you choose one of your recent PoWs to hand-in along with some reflection upon your work. Note that there have been some changes to the reflection and connection questions and a few new ones added.

Shikaku is a Japanese number puzzle where you take a grid and divide it up into smaller squares and rectangles according to areas given in circles within the grid. For example, a circle with a 6 in it would need to be within either a 2x3 or 6x1 rectangle within the larger grid. Give it a try!!
This week's PoW asks you to take a closer look at something of a curiosity in Math... the Mobius Loop. See if you can better understand what's going on with it and where it might actually be useful in real life. Good luck!
This week's PoW is a return to the matchstick puzzles we've seen before. You are given a starting pattern of 13 small squares made of 36 matchsticks. You then have six challenges to attempt that involve moving and/or removing sticks to create new combinations of shapes. Good Luck!!

What are PoWs?Problems of the Week are puzzles, problems and questions I give out in a 4 week cycle. The first three weeks are new problems for students to try. The fourth week is a chance for reflection and an opportunity for students to choose one of the three PoWs to hand in as a showcase of their problem solving abilities. Hand-in OutlineArchives
